All Hail the Queen

Zaha Hadid has another award to add to her long list of achievements, the Praemium Imperiale Award for Architecture by the Japan Art Association. Hiroshi Sugimoto is another award winner this year in Painting.

Why keep Zaha Hadid in my back pocket? A marriage of architecture and drawing, a similar collision of disciplines I hope to achieve with photography and urban design. I am reminded of her earlier drawings, a period of work before anything was built or fabricated – almost 20 years of experimentation and a seduction of perspective views defying gravity and the giving way to fluid forms.
