“Urban China: Informal Cities” opened at the New Museum on February 11 through to March 29 2009, a fabrication of the magazine “Urban China” exploring the current urban situation in China. The magazine explores urbanism in China through a range of visual and information design such as architecture, graphic design, photojournalism, geography, anthropology, statistics and historical research. In a rapidly growing country, the magazine is an attempt to document how the cities are changing. This is a refreshing discovery after my purchase of “Great Leap Forward”, a project by the  Harvard School of Design (authors Rem Koolhaas, Sze Tsung Leong and Jeffrey Inaba). The book is an attempt to document and analyze the affects of a rapidly growing urban landscape.
