ROBERT FRANK – THE AMERICANS
BBC News recently published an article “The Americans in the frame” showcasing the contact sheets made by Robert Frank for “The Americans”, a book chronicling his cross country journey at the peak of the Cold War. It s a publication that most photographers relish to have in their collection of photography books. These shots were from a small 35mm camera, documenting each decisive moment including images that did not ultimately make it into the book. It offers us a more in-depth glimpse into the evolution of each image particularly from those that made it into the final edit.
“The people walk this way and this way, they are young and they are old, they are fat and thin, everything is there.”
